All complaints which are received are considered confidential. The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages takes all necessary steps to safeguard the anonymity of complainants and as such does not disclose the complainant’s identity, without their consent, to the government body targeted by the complaint.
However, it is possible that the body may guess the complainant’s identity from the details provided about the incident. Contact information is required in order to keep a complainant informed on the developments of their file and for statistical tracking purposes.
